A new version of LEAP is now available for download (2003.052).
The changes in this version are as follows:
Optimization: Links to excel spreadsheets are now cached on disk between LEAP sessions, so that Excel itself only has to be opened by LEAP if the spreadsheet has been edited. This greatly reduces calculation times for Areas with many links to Excel spreadsheets.
Tip: If working with areas that contain links to Excel spreadsheets, we suggest leaving a copy of Excel running on your PC. Otherwise, LEAP has to open and close Excel as well as opening and closing individual spreadsheets.
Bug fix: When LEAP is linked to Excel spreadsheets, Excel in some situations tried to prompt the user to save the sheet. This could cause errors when LEAP was trying to read from Excel with Excel in the background since the users never got to see this message. The way LEAP opens and closes Excel files has been changed to avoid this problem.
Bug fix: In some versions of Windows, the Expression edit column in the Analysis view was stopping users from entering long expressions. Also in edit mode the column was right-aligned.
You can get the new version using the Help: Check on Internet for Updates option built into LEAP. This will download a patch of about 2 MB. Alternatively, you can download the whole system from the download page of http://forums.seib.org/leap, which is a download of about 18 MB.
