Subject: LEAP Support Question Posted: 3/6/2006 Viewed: 2025 times | Dear Dr. Heaps: I installed Leap 2006 Version 2006.01. When I tried to create a new area from default data, an error occurs, i.e. "Failed to open data file: GridTable.DB, Empty Expression". Then I am prompted to "Abort" by the program. How do I creat a new area from default data without LEAP aborting prematurely? Best regards, Edito |

Subject: LEAP Support Question Posted: 3/6/2006 Viewed: 2023 times | Hi Edito, This seems to be due to a bug in 2006.001. I think the bug is fixed in 2006.002 which I just posted. However, if problems still arise you may also need to quit LEAP, delete the _dictionaty, _default, _work and freedonia folders (under the LEAP program folder) and then run LEAP again. Check also that the freedonia.zip, _default.zip and _dictionary.zip files in the LEAP folder are dated 3/6/06. Charlie |

Subject: LEAP Support Question Posted: 3/13/2006 Viewed: 2005 times | Hi Edito, Sorry for the continuing problems. I have posted a new version (2006.007) that fixes a few problems (especially on Windows 98 PCs) but I am still not really clear why you are having this particular problem. So far, I cannot reproduce it on my PC. Please can you send me specific steps to reproduce it? Here are some basic steps to follow for fixing installaton problems.... First try these: 1. Quit LEAP 2. Delete the _work, _dictionary, _default and freedonia folders. 3. Run LEAP. If this does not solve the problem, you can try a full reinstall. Do this: 1. Quit LEAP 2. Download a complete new version of LEAP from http://forums.seib.org/leap 2. Delete the _work, _dictionary, _default and freedonia folders. 3. Also delete the _default.zip, _dictionary.zip, freedonia.zip, leap.chm and leap.exe files in the LEAP propgram folder. (Sometimes I have seen situations where the LEAP installation program fails to overwrite these). 4. Run the LEAP installation program leap2006.exe. Other general tips: a) Make sure the LEAP program folder is NOT write-protected. b) Make sure you are logged in with administrative rights on the PC where you are trying to install LEAP. Subject: LEAP Support Question Posted: 3/13/2006 Viewed: 2000 times | Dear Charlie: Did your instructions, still the problem persists. Here is how I encountered the problem. I created a new area using "Area>New". I selected "from default data" under "create Area", typed the Area name and clicked OK. An error message "Failed to open data file: GridTable.DB, Empty Expression" appears and I am prompted to Abort LEAP. I also have administrative rights on this PC. The Sytem Info is below for you to determined if this is a hardware problem.
